About me

My name is Joe Owen, and my creative journey in digital photography has been deeply influenced by Stetson University's Art program and the mentorship of my older brother, Jackson Owen, a London-based artist. My work in landscape photography reflects a distinctive perspective shaped by my interests in sports, everyday life, and culture. Using a Canon T8i and a tripod, I capture compelling moments that resonate with my environment and experiences. Recurring themes in my photography often stem from personal inspirations, such as annual visits to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which continuously fuel my artistic vision. Among my notable works is a semester-long portfolio that captures the essence of life in DeLand, celebrating the vibrancy and character of the local community. Currently, I am immersed in my senior project, Beyond the Athlete, which seeks to explore the multifaceted lives of athletes. This project goes beyond the realm of sports to reveal the diverse identities, passions, and personal narratives that define these individuals off the field. Through my work, I strive to present a holistic view of the human experience, blending visual storytelling with a deep appreciation for the artistry in everyday life.
